Final Exam!

During this semester I have become a better…

This semester I felt quite successful. I feel that I learned what Professor Smith said was our goal. It may not be perfect yet, but it will get there. The objectives in this class were to:
  • Learn to read, think and write critically
  • Gain strategies and skills for all parts of the writing process
  • Gain a deeper understanding of how to find and use quality sources
  • Understand and value the role of complexity in the academic process
I learned what makes a paper good or bad, and also what makes it easier to write. The way this class was run made these objectives a little simpler to accomplish.

I feel that after being a member of the English 1010 class will make my life easier in the future. Without the skills that I learned it would be impossible to transfer thoughts and emotions critically. Looking back, I noticed that our class has learned techniques necessary to develop personal, informative, and argumentative essays. These are vital attributes needed to become successful in today’s society. Because of this class, my attitude towards writing has came to an understanding of what it takes to be a good writer. Before I never realized that essay writing skills were so important.

Now, I can't quite say I enjoy it, but without the knowledge of writing skills I would still be concerned with just getting by every english class. Instead I now find myself developing an essay with the readers in mind, thinking about what would interest them to read my work. Without this class my writing senses would still be sleeping and i'd be lost in my future.

Thank you Professor Smith

Its official! Christmas time is just around the corner!!! With Christmas coming that means shopping. But who always ends up cramming in all their holiday shopping into the last two weeks before Christmas. Almost everyone!

Diy-ing is great overall, but what's even better is DIY gifts. Anywhere from homemade candies to blankets...Beauty products are perfect holiday gifts!
So here’s a MINT SUGAR SCRUB

Ingredients:
½ cup of coconut oil
1 ½ -2 cups of sugar
1 tbsp peppermint extract
1 drop green food coloring
All you need is a few simple ingredients to make this simple sugar scrub:
1st: Your oil of choice (coconut worked fine for mine)
2nd: sugar
3rd: oil extract for the scent (and again peppermint extract worked fine)

This holiday season includes a lot of peppermint and that's how I got this idea from. Because of that I also added a drop of green food coloring to give it that minty-green look. On the plus side mint green is such a lovely color!
Here's a picture for you to enjoy this color(;

Coconut oil can simply be found right next to all the other oils in the baking section at a grocery store. It usually does come solid, so I just microwaved it in a bowl for it to soften, Only took about 15-25 seconds.

From there just add the sugar, peppermint extract, and the drop of food coloring and mix it all together. Mix until you have a moist, minty-green scrub. If the scrub turns out to dry add more coconut oil, if it's to wet add more sugar. Make it as you prefer.

To make the perfect package to give this as a gift, I spooned the scrub into a wide-mouth half pint mason jar. This recipe should be enough for at least 3. To add a little detail add a paper doily between the jar lid and ring. It makes a big difference! Also add some twine around the jar for the perfect finishing touch.

A nice activity to do around thanksgiving is to start decorating for Christmas. Or this can also be a great decor for Thanksgiving and the Christmas tree.  dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dand dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan da
BLEACHED PINECONE ORNAMENTS… ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben benben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben
Step 1: Mix ⅔ bleach with ⅓ water in a bucket. The process of this is a little longer. The pinecones need to soak in the solution for about 24 hours. dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan

Step 3: Cut 4 inches of any kind or ribbon. Then cut that into 3 and 1 inches. Use the 3in ribbon to attach it to the pinecone. Tie the shorter ribbon into a bow; Glue that to the base of the pinecone.

Step 4: Tie the pinecones to wherever you'd like.

This is also one I tried skipping the bleaching process. It was by far a lot less time consuming.

I may seem a bit weird but I found my piece of log outside in my neighborhood while going on a walk. People are starting to cut down trees and just leave piles of the cut down tree on the road ready for garbage pick-up. ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben b
As soon as I saw this log, I knew it would turn into a great centerpiece with lights and everything. dna dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan and dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan

*The great thing about this is it can easily be updated and changed throughout the seasons.

I used a 1.5” diameter drill to create what I was wanting. I drilled 6 holes with quite a few inches of space in between. And that was pretty much it! It was done. dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan dan

The actual log was done but not the decorating. I just took some fall decor that i had lying around and dresses it up a bit. Just by surrounding the centerpiece with some various sizes of pumpkins, pinecones, berries, and leaves. ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben ben b

WWheat Wreath
Step 1: Cut a 24 in length of wire and bend it into a horseshoe shape. Any wire including a coat hanger will do. Wrap the wire with masking tape.

Step 2: Gather five pieces of dried wheat that can be bought at craft stores and trim the stems. And to make a bundle, wrap the stems together with white cloth covered floral wire.

Step 3: Attach the bundles to the horseshoe shaped wire with the floral wire. 5 on the right and 5 on the left. leaving a 2in space in the center. Toe a bow with ribbon and ALL DONE.

Floral letters

Okay I found this project on pinterest and found it tone super easy and really amazing! It looks SO pretty, so I had to try and share it. I made one for my own room door and love it! So decided to make a few more for pure fun.
It's basically just a wooden letter with hot glued faux flowers all over it.

Some quick tips:
  • I suggest buying extra flower, you never know how much you’re going to use and what will look best. For the flowers, make sure to get little fillers (small flowers) and other shaped fillers. Tiny flowers and dried blossoms in different colors look excellent next to the larger flowers.
  • When clipping the flowers from the stems, clip as close to the base of the flower as you can. The flatter the base the better. (you can use wire cutters for this.)
* To make the arrangement look natural and full is to clip off the leaves from the flower stems and hot glue them to the base of the letter, underneath where you are going to put the flower so it looks like it's growing off the letter.

  • Apply a good amount of hot glue to the bottom of each flower and press gently
*The spacing is all up to you. You could do them super close together and fill in the gaps with all kinds of stuff, or separate them a bit and use more green in between. Or you could even use beads and pearls.

And thats the end! Super easy and the result is super cute!

Any Runny Noses?

I saw this and was immediately so excited to try it for myself. I knew it would be so adorable and useful. Every year when fall comes the one thing that happens to everyone is a cold. At least once during fall and winter it is bound to happen.
No one likes to be dealing with their nose, especially the little active ones. Although Kleenex has a good variety of boxes that can match any decor, I thought this was a fun idea for the little ones. One they might also pay attention to as well.

Items needed:
  • box of Kleenex
  • Acrylic craft paint
  • 1.5in wooden circles
  • hot glue gun
  • piece of heavy duty cardboard
  • ruler
  • marker
  • knife
Now the rectangular box that is made from the cardboards can also be bought at any craft store or online. Not difficult to make on your own but a bit time consuming.

-To make the cut out on your own, just take the cardboard and measure out the shapes of each side of the tissue box. The center rectangle will be fitting on top of the tissue box.

-Trim as well as you can with a sharp knife (X-acto works best). Fold the sides up to start forming the cover
* before continuing make sure that when folded up, your tissue box fits well. It should only have the slightest bit of wiggle room.

-Measure out the center of the box and make a rectangle for the Kleenex tissues to pull through. Make sure to trim out carefully

-With the corners brought together, use the hot glue gun to firmly hold them together. Hold until the glue cools and sets.
* The X acto knife can also help trim any glue globs and even out some of the corners so they look alot nicer.

-Paint the first round of glossy paint onto the box. and take the two 1.5in wooden circles and glue them together and paint them as well.

-Place them evenly on either side and hot glue them, after go over them with one last coat of paint.

Almost done… pop you tissue box in there from underneath

And now you have the cutest box of tissues!!!
